Paul Raglan BSc. Hons. Geology, F.G.S.
Managing Director

Paul qualified with an honours degree in Geology in 1986, and since then has continuously worked on mining related projects in Cornwall and South Devon. He has considerable archival and site experience in the interpretation and interpolation of metalliferous mining sites both in Cornwall and Devon. His expertise is in identifying and providing remedial schemes for metalliferous mining site and contaminated land, as well as other geotechnical problems.

Paul is the Managing Director of Cornwall Mining Services Limited, having been with the company since 1989 and taking this principle role in 1993. He is responsible for the development of the Company and has conducted presentations to various professional bodies on metalliferous mining in Cornwall and the aspects of the Company’s work in association with this. Paul has extensive contacts within the region.

 

Brian Poole BSc. Hons. Geology
Senior Geologist

Brian qualified with an honours degree in 1992, after which he spent a brief period working for the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, where he organised several geology/palaeontology collections and helped design the ‘Geology at Work’ exhibition.

Brian joined Cornwall Mining Services Limited in 1994, and has gained considerable experience in the coordination of site investigation and the identification and mitigation of mining features, as well as general ground stability and contaminated land problems. Brian provides the Company with expertise in the interpretation of mining archive records.

 

Timothy G. Warner A.C.S.M., D.M.T., F.I.M.M., C.Eng.

Tim trained at the Camborne School of Metalliferous Mining and graduated in 1967 with a First Class Associateship. After working abroad as a mining engineer, Tim returned to this country and obtained a Diploma in Mining Technology in 1973. He then gained practical experience working as a miner at South Crofty Mine for a year, and in 1974 joined Cornwall Tin and Mining Limited as chief mining engineer at Mount Wellington Mine, later being acting mine manager.

In 1978, Tim and three other former employees of Mount Wellington Mine established Cornwall Mining Services Limited, Tim being the Managing Director of the Company and its principal engineer until 1993, when he became a part-time, self-employed consultant to the Company.

Tim has considerable experience in ground stability problems, both related to mining and natural conditions. Together with his engineering background, the study of early mining workings and techniques enabled him to re-pioneer the subject of the effects of past mining and the interpretation of early records. He has also played a key role in the increase in understanding and awareness of Local Authorities and other professional bodies and individuals relating to this subject.

Principle Archive Technician

Ian joined Cornwall Mining Services Limited in 1986 as part of our archive team and has since gained professional status. Ian manages the archive database and has extensive knowledge of mining history and of the mining records collection.

 

Natalie May BSc (Hons) ACSM –
Qualified Geologist

Natalie joined the company in 2004 having gained an Honors Degree in Applied Geology from Camborne School of Mines.

Natalie spent 5 weeks mapping the geology of the eastern part of Snowdonia, and her dissertation was on Yellowstone National Park.

Natalie is experienced in the investigation and mitigation of former mine workings on development sites and the determination of the mining risk for workings identified beneath existing buildings. Natalie also works with our contaminated land section.
